A mixed control brigade for CEMAC is in gestation. This is the substance of an audience granted on November 21, 2024, by Atanga Nji Paul, Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, to a delegation from the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, CEMAC. The delegation, which is on an official visit to Cameroon that runs from November 18, 2024, to November 22, 2024, will hold a series of meetings with Cameroonian authorities in view of putting in place a mixed control brigade for CEMAC. The delegation that is on an official visit to Cameroon is led by Mr. Gabo Seli Mbogo, former minister, and has as members Boum Bissai Pierre, CEMAC resident representative in Yaounde, Djonfang London Bell, Nkama Bienvenue, and Mme Janis, who is in charge of communication.

The purpose of the CEMAC Mixed Control Brigade is to ensure a free movement of people and goods within the CEMAC zone and thus propel the required economic development in the subregion.

It is worthy to recall here that the idea of a CEMAC Mixed Control Brigade falls in line with the aspiration of CEMAC Heads of State to increase the movement of people and goods within the CEMAC subregion, curb the abusive demands of visas at certain frontiers, reduce the exorbitant fees demanded from proprietors of vehicles from some CEMAC countries, and also reduce the numerous road checkpoints, especially on the Douala-Ndjamena corridor of 1800 kilometres that has 124 checkpoints instead of five that are previewed.
